DESCRIPTION:Relation\, displacement\, multiplicity\, identity\, interdep

Afro and Caribbean diasporic context\, Melissandre adds layers of comple
xity using a situated Black feminism. Through poetic performance arts\,
moving image assemblages\, and site-specific installations - among other

SUMMARY:Rooms - Dance Performance by Haowen
DESCRIPTION:The dance work focuses on the lives of people under the epid
emic\, and explores the overwhelming impact of people on their daily liv
es. People tried to entertain themselves at home during the isolation\,
by socializing online\, playing virtual games\, hosting their own partie
s\, festivals with a strong sense of ritual\, and playing in fear and bo
redom -- like the characters in Boccaccio's Decameron\, who hide in thei
r villas and ride the Black Death and entertain each other with stories.
But the emotions behind it are anxiety\, fear\, waiting. This work is p
resented in the form of physical theater and will be livestreamed throug
 h the RoeShow. \n\nHere is the link to watch live!\n\n&nbsp\;

SUMMARY:MED - Dance Performance by Binying
DESCRIPTION:MED is an experimental and collaborative choreography projec
t that explores the mechanism of the sensorimotor simulation model in ou
r bodies\, that is\, how emotions and memories are embodied and reactiva
ted through body movements.\n\nInspired by the Bauhaus aesthetic\, bodie
s present in this performance have functioned as media of memories. The
choreography process benefits from a collaboration with dancers through
body-memory workshops\, in which the choreographer guides dancers to ret
rieve their emotions and memories by asking them to manipulate their bod
ies.\n\nThe performance consists of three parts: Encoding\, Batch Proces
sing\, and Decoding. By demonstrating the process of memory embodiment a
nd reactivation through dancers’ body movements and interactions with
the environment\, MED opens a conversation with audiences on how our bod
ies bond us with our past experience\, and store us memory inside bodies
.\n\nMED is a live performance in Michaelis Theater at 5th of June. Also
\, It can be livestreamed online through the RoeShow. \n\nHere is the l
 ink to watch live!

SUMMARY:Tracey Falcon - Digital Media - Livestreamed Talk
DESCRIPTION:An injury left Tracey Falcon reliant on a wheelchair just un
der 3 years ago and she then found it impossible to physically manage th
 e larger newspaper/wood artworks\, referencing trees\, the printing proc
ess and news making\, that she had been making for the previous 16 years
or so. Tracey began experimenting with smaller works and painting with
oils. Once she was able to get outdoors again\, she started taking photo
graphs of the woodlands that she missed so much. Tracey has been creatin
g digital compositions with these photographs\, detailing the barriers s
he now faces both internally and externally. With humour\, the tangle of
layers she shows in these works contain elements that figure large in h
er new perspective of the world.\n\nTracey will talk about the creative
potential offered through these digital works.\n\nJoin this event via Ev

SUMMARY:Frankie Adkins - Journalism Seminar
DESCRIPTION:My talk will focus on the decline of local news and why this
is troubling for society. We’ll take a look at the news landscape to
figure out why revenue has dropped and small titles have been forced to
merge.\n\nWe’ll discuss how local news plays a vital role in democracy
reporting\, upholding trust in institutions and encouraging pride in co
mmunities. We’ll also consider how the loss of specific news outlets h
as contributed to tragedies such as Grenfell. \n\nI’ll share quirky s
tories of reporting during the pandemic—some of which will hopefully b
 e familiar to Roehampton students\, before ending on a Q+A.\n\nJoin in v
