At the University of Roehampton, we explore photography in a theoretically informed, critical and technically astute fashion

The emphasis at the University of Roehampton is on exploring photography in a theoretically informed, critical and technically astute fashion. As such, the programme enables students to accumulate a range of advanced technical skills alongside a comprehensive engagement with provocative critical and theoretical materials. Students studying at Roehampton explore the medium of photography through its relationship with contemporary cultural discourses across a range of practices and institutions, including advertising, documentary, fashion and fine art.

This Showcase draws together a group of diverse projects from graduating students and this catalogue celebrates the range of visual enquiry that they have undertaken throughout their final year of the course. Photography touches every part of life, from the family album to the historical archive and through the high production values of commercial photography to experimental fine art practices. The work presented here foregrounds graduates who have produced a range of diverse and intriguing projects informed by the histories, theories and practices taught at Roehampton.
